art- abalone shell fans - Tonga - 1990

Description

These beautiful fans from Tonga are very unusual.  There is one artist there that did this work who is now gone.  Never seen anywhere else.  They are made from carved abalone which is a very strong shell when using the fan.  The grass is very sturdy also,
& dried perfectly.  It will not fall apart.  Beautiful work where the grass is attached to the shell.  These pieces would be beautiful framed on a linen back ground inside a plex glass box.  16"w  X 10"h -
